A Natural Way to Support Healing

Acupuncture is a safe and effective way to help pets heal and manage pain. It works by stimulating specific points on the body, called acupuncture points—found along pathways known as Meridians. These points often follow the path of major nerves and blood vessels. For centuries, acupuncture has been used in humans, and it has now been adapted for animals, so our pets can benefit too.

At Union Hill Animal Hospital, Dr. Stallings is certified in veterinary acupuncture. Your pet’s safety is always the top priority. Proper diagnosis is essential before starting treatment so that acupuncture is used effectively and safely.

Conditions Acupuncture Can Help

Acupuncture can be used alone or alongside other treatments to manage a variety of health issues, including:
  • Joint problems: Hip dysplasia, arthritis, and other mobility issues
  • Neurologic conditions: Nerve injuries or weakness
  • Behavioral concerns: Such as obsessive-compulsive licking
  • Pain management: Reducing or eliminating the need for certain medications
  • Cancer support: Managing pain and side effects of chemotherapy
  • Allergies and skin conditions
  • Digestive issues: Vomiting, diarrhea, or other gastrointestinal problems
  • Reproductive disorders
  • Urinary conditions: Incontinence or chronic infections
  • Immune system regulation

Treatment Plans Tailored to Your Pet

A Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist will first evaluate your pet and make a diagnosis. From there, a treatment plan is created based on your pet’s needs.
  • Most plans include weekly or bi-weekly sessions for 4–8 weeks.
  • Many pets show improvement within the first 4 treatments.
  • After a positive response, treatments are spaced out to maintain results.

Combining Acupuncture With Other Therapies

Acupuncture often works best when used with other treatments. Our team will coordinate with your pet’s regular doctor to ensure all therapies complement each other and support your pet’s overall health.

Most pets tolerate acupuncture well, and many even relax or fall asleep during treatment. The sessions are designed to be as stress-free as possible for both pets and their owners.
